Saturday - May 26, 2007

It was the Memorial Day weekend and we had an expanded format of six teams with a BBQ in conjunction with John's group to follow the tennis. Pictures of the event are shown above.

The teams were selected in accordance with the player ratings and were as follows:

1. Zack and Rafael
2. Bob S. and Cathy
3. Larry and Sabrina
4. Richard C. and Louise
5. Rudy and Carmel
6. Harry and Tina

The two winning teams were Rudy/Carmel and Zack/Rafael. Both teams won all three rounds. The results were as follows.

ROUND ONE

Zack/Rafael over Bob S./Cathy (6-4)
Rudy/Carmel over Richard C./Louise (6-5)
Harry/Tina over Larry/Sabrina (6-4)

ROUND TWO

Zack/Rafael over Rihard C./Louise (6-1)
Rudy/Carmel over Harry/Tina (6-1)
Bob S./Cathy over Larry/Sabrina (6-3)

ROUND THREE

The BBQ afterwards was a huge success with 16 players and additional guests that attended. Zack was the lead coordinator for this BBQ with John handling his own group. The club furnished their gas BBQ unit for the event. As seen in the picture above the master BBQ chef was Richard C. who did a great job. He BBQed the burgers and sausages for the event. There were potato salad, pasta salad, green salad and drinks. No one went home hungry.

The next joint event with a BBQ will be the weekend before the 4th of July and John will be the lead coordinator for the BBQ with Zack handling his own group.

Saturday - May 19, 2007

It was a mild calm spring morning at 9 AM. By 10 AM the wind speed increased and became a factor during the play. Oh well, at least it wasn't raining.

Todays lineup as put together by Zack was as follows:

Bob S. and Carmel
Zack and Richard C.
Larry and Louise
Harry and Cathy

Sabrina and Tina played singles

Louise was at the top of her game as she and Larry won in all three rounds to take first. Harry tried to stop her in the third round but failed. Tina bested Sabrina in straight sets in singles (6-1, 6-3). The results were as follows:

The refreshments were varied and plentiful. A sampling of the goodies were as follows:

Carmel - Brie, crackers and grapes

Richard C. & Larry - Beer and soft drinks

Next Saturday (Memorial Day weekend) there will be a joint BBQ with our group and John's mens group.

There were eight players on this windy but sunny day. The teams were:

Rudy and Tina
Zack and Sabrina
Bob S and Louise
Harry and Carmel

Rudy and Tina dominated the group winning all their sets.

Rudy and Tina defeated Carmel and Harry 6-4

ROUND TWO

Zack and Sabrina defeated Harry and Carmel 6-4
Rudy and Sabrina defeated Bob S and Louise 6-4

Harry and Carmel defeated Bob S and Louise 6-2

As usual, we had great RAT with beer, wine, cheese, sausage slices, fruit and more.

Saturday - May 5, 2007

It was a pleasant spring day for tennis. Five courts were in use today.

We had a quorum of eight players today. The teams were as follows:

George/Bob S.
Rudy/Sabrina
Zack/Sue
Larry/Tina

Without Harry here to stop him, George and his partner Bob won in all three rounds to take undisputed first place. The results were as follows:

Tina brought what started as banana bread and ended up as a apple cinnamon bread for refreshments. There were also grapes (Sabrina), Jalopeno chips (Rudy) and drinks. Tina also brought a bottle of Cambria chardonnay wine.

On one of the nicest day of the year so far our group consisted of 4 players, Bob S., Harry, Louise and Sabrina. The second foursome was canceled since we could not get a quorum. The group played a round robin. The results were as follows:
