In Lieu of Saturday HIT on 10/28, we played a club sponsored doubles event where all club members and non-members were invited. Nineteen players of all levels participated. The new club pro, Michael Rosario, was introduced and played a few rounds with us.

The winners were: Sue Klieman, first place; Bob Safer, second place; Cyp Fernandes and Harry Fong tied for third.

Tennis was followed by a barbecue set up by the club, complimented with pot luck dishes and drinks from everybody. (Harry and Louise: great Chow Mein!)

Saturday - Oct. 21, 2006

Indian summer weather has returned for now and it was great. This was the first time in over a month that we had the women players present to be able to have a round robin. The teams for the round robin were selected in accordance with our rating system. The teams were as follows:

Rudy/Harry
George/Carole
Larry/Louise
Zack/Carmel

Larry/Louise won in all 3 rounds in 3 very close sets. Due to the length of Larry/Louise's sets the third round started at almost 11:20 AM. It was decided to play a super tiebreaker for the third set. The results were as follows:

ROUND ONE

Rudy/Harry over George/Carole (6-3)
Larry/Louise over Zack/Carmel (6-4)

ROUND TWO

Larry/Louise over Rudy/Harry (6-5)
Zack/Carmel over George/Carole (6-1)

ROUND THREE

Larry/Louise over George/Carole (1-0)
Rudy/Harry over Zack/Carmel (1-0)

It was well past our refreshment time when we adjourned to the deck. Carmel and Louise brought some delicious goodies. Carmel brought smoked steelhead trout that Stan caught and smoked. She served it on a slice of baguette bread with cream cheese, red onions and smoked steelhead on it. Louise brought shortbread cookies that she had just baked. Only the crumbs were left of all the food that was brought.

The tennis ratings that changed after today's play are as follows:

George - 4.3
Rudy - 5.1+
Larry - 5.1-
Zack - 4.8
Louise - 4.3
Carmel - 5.1
Carole - 3.6
Harry - 4.2

There will not be a Saturday Hi-Intensity Tennis next Saturday due to a club sponsored tennis social being held at that time to introduce the new tennis pro.
