SATURDAY - DECEMBER 22, 2007

The first day of winter arrived and it was cold. Ten people assembled on the tennis courts to play doubles. Many players wore Santa hats for the occasion. One team sat out in every round. The male player that sat out with us played in John's group since he was short one player.

Zack's grandson from Brazil, Arturo, played with us today. He will be visiting for a few weeks.

Photos of the event are shown above.

The teams were as follows.

Arturo/Sabrina
Rudy/Linda
Zack/Tina
Larry/Carmel
Harry/Sue

Two teams, Arturo/Sabrina and Larry/Carmel, won in all three rounds and tied for first place. The results were as follows.

ROUND ONE

Arturo/Sabrina OVER Rudy/Linda (6-1)
Larry/Carmel OVER Harry/Sue (6-1)
Zack/Tina - BYE

ROUND TWO

Arturo/Sabrina OVER Harry/Sue (6-2)
Larry/Carmel OVER Zack/Tina (6-1)
Rudy/Linda - BYE

ROUND THREE

Arturo/Sabrina OVER Zack/Tina (6-2)
Larry/Carmel OVER Rudy/Linda (6-1)
Harry/Sue - BYE

The refreshments were a little more upscale since there were only 3 more days to christmas. There were turkey meat balls, ham slices, buns, cheese rolls, etc. that was topped off with Mumm's champagne. They'll have a hard time topping this spread for New Years next week.

The player ratings that changed due to today's play are as follows.

Arturo - 6
Larry - 4.6
Rudy - 4.5
Zack - 4.2
Harry - 3
Sabrina - 5.2
Carmel - 4.6
Sue - 4.1
Tina - 3.1
Linda - 2.9
