Saturday - June 30, 2007

The last day of June was here. The year is rapidly going by. We had 8 people for our group when we arrived but went up to 10 people shortly there after. Fred showed up looking for an opening in one of the groups and John's group had an extra player. Therefore, Sabrina and Tina were able to play there preferred singles game rather than mixed doubles. Fred and Patrick joined our group to play doubles. Zack was not playing today.

The round robin format was scrapped early on as the players kept trading partners after each round. This was not an organized switching of partners but instead partners were being switched willy-nilly. If you lost you were in danger of being jettisoned by your partner.

Patrick and Larry won in all three rounds. Two of the rounds they were partners. The results were as follows:

ROUND ONE

Fred/Harry over Rudy/Louise (6-5)
Larry/Patrick over Steve/Carmel (6-2)

ROUND TWO

Larry/Patrick over Fred/Harry (6-2)
Rudy/Carmel over Steve/Louise (6-2)

ROUND THREE

Larry/Fred over Rudy/Carmel (6-3)
Patrick/Harry over Steve/Louise (6-2)

SINGLES

Tina over Sabrina (6-1, 6-2, 6-7)

There were many varied refreshments as usual. Tina brought Champagne and organic strawberries and had a toast for Zack on his retirement from work this month. Zack brought a bottle of Rombauer's Cabernet Sauvignon to celebrate his retirement.

The player ratings that changed after today's play are as follows:

Larry - 5.2
Rudy - 5
Steve - 2.7
Louise - 4.2
Carmel - 5.3
Harry - 3.9
Fred - 5
Patrick - 6
